May. 11, 2009 by lsbrown
Seniors,
1. Upon Completion
I have copied below the Upon Completion note I sent out on Friday. Read it carefully so that you understand what it means to leave upon completion, and PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS OPTION TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS THE OPTION FOR YOU!!!
2. Caps & Gowns
Broadstreet Books is open for business, so you can still order and pick up your cap and gown and return textbooks. They are open from 1-6 p.m. today, and will have store hours for the days ahead. You can reach them at x7323.
3. Senior Survey
If you have not had a chance to complete the survey, PLEASE DO! It provides us with important information that we use to make improvements. It matters!
4. In closing…
It has been a very difficult time for our entire community and we continue to grieve for Johanna as we return to some semblance of our regular routines. I just want to thank you and note how great you all have been in coming together to provide the support and comfort that is helping us to keep moving forward.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Best, Dean Brown
UPON COMPLETION NOTE:
Seniors,
I wanted to follow up on the option to leave Upon Completion to explain a little bit more about what it is. If you are thinking about it, please come talk with me about it.
Upon Completion is a category that applies only to those who are within 2.00 credits of completing all degree requirements. It has nothing to do with grade point average (74.00 minimum) or the residency requirement. This means that to be Upon Completion, you must have earned at least 30.00 useable credits and have no more than 2.00 credits remaining to post, whether that be through completing Incompletes or earning additional credit elsewhere. Your degree is then voted by the faculty “Upon Completion,” and your diploma will be sent to you once all outstanding work (credits and/or major requirements) has been completed. You retain your class year and may participate fully in the Commencement ceremony, but you will not have graduated and will be listed as Upon Completion in the Commencement booklet.
If you can finish up, I encourage you to do so, but if you feel that you cannot, then leaving Upon Completion is a good option. Please come see me if you are considering Upon Completion so that we can talk it through together.
Best, Dean Brown
